NG2-Glia Transiently Overcome Their Homeostatic Network and Contribute to Wound Closure After Brain Injury

چکیده
In the adult brain, NG2-glia represent a cell population that responds to injury. To further investigate if, how and why are recruited injury site, we analyzed in detail long-term reaction of after lesion by time-lapse two-photon vivo microscopy. Live imaging over several weeks GFP-labeled stab wounded cerebral cortex revealed their fast heterogeneous reaction, including proliferation, migration, polarization, hypertrophy, or mixed response, while small subset cells remained unresponsive. At peak 2–4 days injury, accumulated around within core, overcoming homeostatic control density, which normalized back physiological conditions only 4 insult. Genetic ablation proliferating demonstrated this accumulation contributed beneficially wound closure. Thus, show response traumatic brain (TBI) participate tissue repair.

Neuronal injury and death following focal mild brain injury: The role of network excitability and seizure
Objective(s): While traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a predisposing factor for development of post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE), the occurrence of seizures following brain trauma can infuriate adverse consequences of brain injury. However, the effect of seizures in epileptogenesis after mild TBI cannot yet be accurately confirmed. This study was designed to investigate the ...
متن کاملHemichannels in cardiomyocytes open transiently during ischemia and contribute to reperfusion injury following brief ischemia.
The aim of this study was to investigate changes in hemichannel activity during in vitro simulated ischemia [oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)] and the contribution of hemichannels to ischemia-reperfusion injury in rat neonatal cardiomyocytes. Dye uptake assays showed that hemichannels opened as OGD progressed, peaking after 1 h, and then closed, returning to the pre-OGD state after 2 h of OGD. ...
متن کاملStrategies to Overcome Network Congestion in Infrastructure Systems
Networked Infrastructure systems deliver services and/or products from point to point along the network. Demand for the services provided by such systems is typically cyclic, creating inefficiencies in capacity utilization. Congestion pricing provides incentives to shift demand from peak time periods to lower demand periods. This effectively increases the capacity of the system without the need...
متن کاملIncreased expression of the NG2 chondroitin-sulfate proteoglycan after brain injury.
Injury to the adult mammalian CNS results in reactive changes among the glial cells surrounding the site of damage. Recently, an unusual class of glial cells has been identified within the intact adult rat cerebellum on the basis of the expression of the NG2 chondroitin-sulfate proteoglycan (Levine and Card, 1987). To determine whether the cells that express the NG2 proteoglycan show reactive c...
متن کاملRemote brain network changes after unilateral cortical impact injury and their modulation by acetylcholinesterase inhibition.
We explored whether cerebral cortical impact injury (CCI) effects extend beyond direct lesion sites to affect remote brain networks, and whether acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibition elicits discrete changes in functional activation of motor circuits following CCI. Adult male rats underwent unilateral motor-sensory CCI or sham injury. Physostigmine (AChE inhibitor) or saline were administered ...
